About the Role
As a Backend Engineer at lemon.markets, you will design and build the backend services and architecture for our brokerage API platform, enabling companies to embed investing into their products. You will independently deliver high-quality features and services within a cross-functional team, taking ownership from implementation through production. You will contribute to maintaining and improving the Core Platform & Systems within product domains like Customer Lifecycle, Investing, or Banking processes. Our tech stack includes Python, FastAPI, AWS, and Postgres. You will make a meaningful contribution to our core Platform & Systems and technical decisions, working with a team to build the investment infrastructure for the next 100 million European retail investors.
Responsibilities
- Independently build and deliver high-quality features and services within a cross-functional team, from implementation through production.
- Take ownership of your team’s deliverables, make thoughtful implementation choices based on product context and customer needs.
- Help ensure that the systems you work on are reliable, maintainable and ready to scale.
- Work in one of our product domains: Customer Lifecycle, Investing or Banking processes, helping us maintain and improve the Core Platform & Systems around them.
- Make a meaningful contribution to the development of our core Platform & Systems and to the technical decisions within your team.
Requirements
- Write well-structured, maintainable and well-tested code in at least one modern programming language, such as Python, Go, Java, Ruby, JavaScript or TypeScript.
- Experience in designing and implementing highly scalable architecture and reliable REST APIs.
- Good experience with software in a cloud environment (AWS, GCP, Azure) and the architectural patterns for this environment.
- Good understanding of document-based or relational database technology such as MySQL/PostgreSQL.
- Know how to write high-quality code that is understandable, maintainable and well tested, and can guide other engineers to do the same via code reviews.
- Embrace AI tooling and actively incorporate it into your daily workflow.
- Good problem-solving skills and the ability to provide in-depth evaluations and analyses of unique and complex technological issues.
- Track record of designing, building and operating reliable and scalable backend systems as part of a cross-functional team.
- Experience working in a Fintech or financial service provider is a plus.
- See yourself as a product engineer, excited by solving customer problems and becoming an expert in your domain.
- Enjoy building from scratch, with high involvement in product development and advocating for best engineering practices.
