About the Role
The Applications team builds flagship applications for clients, including Trade Blotter, Beacon Quote, and Risk Workstation. As a Senior Software Development Engineer, you will own projects end-to-end, working across the full stack and collaborating with business teams. We seek a self-starter committed to high engineering standards and client satisfaction, utilizing AI agents like Claude Code for safe and efficient development.
Responsibilities
- Own projects end to end, from scoping and sequencing through to execution, rollout and delivery.
- Drive work forward with minimal oversight, coordinating with other teams to keep it on track.
- Design, build, deploy and maintain simple, well-structured, thoroughly tested code in Python and React, including the Glint SDK.
- Use AI agents such as Claude Code to speed up development, reviewing and taking ownership of all output to meet our quality standards.
- Implement automated testing at multiple levels, including unit, integration and end-to-end.
- Review code and mentor colleagues, sharing knowledge and best practice.
- Lead design and feature discussions, championing performance, scalability, reliability and security.
- Troubleshoot and resolve production incidents promptly.
- Undertake any other reasonable activities required by management.
Requirements
- Excellent proficiency in Python.
- Familiarity with React, TypeScript or JavaScript, and comfort working across the full stack.
- Working knowledge of Claude Code and effective usage patterns, with the discipline to use AI agents safely, responsibly and only to produce code you fully understand and stand behind.
- A proven self-starter with the initiative to scope, plan and deliver with minimal direction.
- Deep knowledge of software methodologies and tools.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication, teamwork and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organization and time management, with a record of delivering to deadlines.
- A strong focus on client satisfaction and user experience.
- A commitment to continuous learning.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other essential applications.
