About the Role
As a Senior Product Security Engineer, you will dive deep into mobile and web app technologies to hunt for vulnerabilities, secure cloud-native applications, and perform threat modeling. You will guide developers in secure design principles, remediate vulnerabilities, and act as a subject matter expert in Application Security. The goal is to enable secure development rather than gatekeeping, mentoring junior engineers and integrating security into CI/CD pipelines through automation.
Responsibilities
- Regularly dive deep into mobile, web app technologies to understand feature development and proactively hunt for vulnerabilities.
- Be proficient in securing cloud-native applications, ensuring security best practices are applied consistently across the cloud environment.
- Be proficient in threat modelling and guide developers in secure design principles to prevent vulnerabilities.
- Help remediate vulnerabilities through strategic initiatives, writing patches, or creating understandable and actionable vulnerability tickets.
- Act as the subject matter expert across a wide range of security areas, particularly in Application Security.
- Make security invisible when possible, avoiding gatekeeping and blocking product teams in favor of enabling secure development.
- Mentor and coach junior engineers, sharing knowledge to help raise the security bar across the organization.
- Leverage automation and security tools to seamlessly integrate security into CI/CD pipelines, ensuring vulnerabilities are caught early without disrupting development.
Requirements
- Passion for security and resilient software development processes.
- Enjoy hunting for vulnerabilities in web and mobile applications and working with engineering teams to remediate them strategically.
- Comfortable explaining security issues and concerns to product owners, engineers, VPs, and executives.
- Keen follower of all things Infosec and constantly on the lookout for ways to apply new industry trends, tools, and automations.
- Breadth and depth of knowledge across AppSec, including understanding of private key storage, URL Schemes vs. Universal Links, presigned URLs in S3 context, and safe storage mechanisms for modern browsers.
- Proficiency with Burp Suite or similar attack proxies; bonus for extension contributions.
- Excellent spoken and written communication skills to articulate vulnerabilities clearly and persuasively.
- Advocate for remediation even when faced with competing production pressures.
- Blog, public speaking engagements, bug bounty profile, or Git repository showcasing work.
- Comfortable writing proof-of-concept (POC) scripts to demonstrate findings and potential impact.
- Hands-on experience with securing cloud-native applications, ensuring best practices are consistently applied.
