About the Role
Third Bridge is seeking a Consumer and/or TMT Analyst to join our growing team in Tokyo. This role involves producing in-depth research, generating investment ideas, and engaging with clients and industry experts to uncover actionable insights.
Responsibilities
- Produce in-depth research coverage on the consumer and/or TMT sector in Japan, with additional ad-hoc coverage on relevant private market transactions
- Generate actionable investment ideas, perform initial due diligence and prepare detailed questions lists
- Host interviews on covered topics with industry experts and executives
- Drive discussions with industry specialists, extracting value-added and actionable insight
- Engage with clients to present research and foster relationships
- Collaborate with internal account management and sales teams
- Build relationships with senior industry executives
- Conduct deep-dives on industries/companies
- Identify non-consensus views among specialists
- Build out a pipeline of content
Requirements
- Native command of spoken and written Japanese, and strong English skills
- Chinese language skills are advantageous
- 1-3 years of relevant experience in either Japan-focused equity research, private equity dealflow, credit research, management consulting, or investigative (financial) journalism
- Proven experience in conducting (equity) research and/or demonstrated ability to conduct fundamental, bottom-up research
- Excellent analytical, interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong team orientation, highly collaborative with proven experience in driving outcomes through teamwork
- Intellectual Curiosity; deeply interested in understanding the intersection between financial markets and business fundamentals
- Strong Relationship Builder; ability to confidently interact with C-level executives and industry experts
- Proficient at working both independently and effectively with diverse teams
- Strong Communicator; excellent written and verbal communication skills, highly logical and structured, and exceptional attention to detail
- Results Driven; self-starter committed to digging deep into coverage, high work ethic, and personal responsibility/ownership
