About the Role

Steel is seeking a Founding Growth Lead to systematically drive user and revenue growth for its open-source browser infrastructure for AI agents. This role involves owning growth across the full funnel, from awareness to activation and expansion, working directly with the CEO and founding team to experiment across channels, create developer-focused content, and build scalable systems. The position requires a technical aptitude for coding, shipping demos, and authentic developer engagement.

Responsibilities

Own growth across the full funnel, from driving awareness among AI engineers to optimizing activation and expansion.
Experiment relentlessly across channels, create content that resonates with developers, and build scalable systems.
Build our content machine, turning AI agent experiments and research into high-value blog posts, demos, and technical content.
Run influencer campaigns with AI engineers and developer advocates to amplify reach in technical communities.
Run fast experiments across channels, messaging, value props, and ICP to drive developer adoption and conversion.
Execute launches for new features and open-source releases to create momentum.
Work with engineers to optimize the self-serve funnel through experimentation on activation, conversion, and retention.
Organize events, dinners, and community gatherings to foster user advocacy and customer relationships.
Build presence across developer communities (X, Reddit, HN, Discord) with engaging content.

Requirements

4+ years growing developer tools, API products, or infrastructure companies through a product-led motion.
Technical proficiency: ability to write code, build demos, and engage with developers.
Understanding of content's importance in modern growth and ability to create compelling technical content.
Experience running experiments and prioritizing growth loops over linear channels.
Extreme bias for action: ability to ship, measure, learn, and iterate quickly.
Good taste and understanding of what resonates with developers across platforms.
Active participation in technical communities.
Ex-founder experience (nice-to-have).
Product-led growth experience at companies like Vercel, Supabase, Render, or similar developer tool companies (nice-to-have).
Experience growing a product from pre-revenue to $1M+ ARR (nice-to-have).
Experience writing technical content that developers bookmark, share, and return to (nice-to-have).
