About the Role
This role is critical in shaping Chime’s corporate narrative and reputation as a public company. You will shape the company’s major moments and how we present ourselves to reporters, investors, policymakers, and corporate stakeholders across quarterly earnings, corporate announcements, executive engagements, and high-stakes issues. You are a sharp writer, strategic thinker, and reliable partner who stays calm under pressure and can drive workstreams from idea to execution with minimal direction. You build trust with senior leaders, reporters, and cross-functional partners, and are excited to grow into a broader role as the function expands. You will report to the Director of Corporate Communications and collaborate closely with the Corporate Affairs team, Investor Relations, Legal, Finance, and Chime's leadership.
Responsibilities
- Support corporate announcements and financial communications, including quarterly earnings and major company announcements, in collaboration with Corporate Affairs, Investor Relations, Legal, and Finance.
- Shape media strategy and own press materials, briefing books, and outreach for corporate announcements.
- Own the corporate narrative and messaging source of truth, ensuring clear and consistent communication across earnings, announcements, executive platforms, and owned channels.
- Grow the media and influencer program by expanding relationships with business, financial, and fintech reporters, as well as creators and emerging voices.
- Land high-impact coverage and manage inbound media requests.
- Raise executives' profiles by managing the executive visibility program, recommending speaking opportunities, and briefing leaders for interviews and engagements.
- Lead issues management, owning sensitive media inquiries from triage to resolution.
- Recommend response strategies, write statements, and coordinate with Legal, Risk, Security, and other partners for issues and incident management.
- Champion AI within the communications team, building and scaling AI-first tools and workflows.
- Collaborate with Marketing on answer engine optimization (AEO) to ensure Chime is visible where stakeholders seek information.
- Manage agency partners, measure and report on the impact of communications work, and keep leadership informed.
- Maintain project management discipline to manage multiple workstreams concurrently.
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience in corporate, financial, or executive communications, either in-house or at an agency.
- Experience in fintech, financial services, or consumer technology is a plus.
- Hands-on experience with public company communications, including quarterly earnings.
- Experience working alongside Investor Relations and Legal.
- Established relationships with business, financial, and technology reporters.
- Proven track record of landing coverage and managing reporter requests.
- Experience preparing and staffing executives for interviews, panels, and speaking engagements.
- Exceptional writing and editing skills for press releases, Q&A documents, briefing books, talking points, and scripts.
- Ability to make complex topics clear and compelling.
- Strong organizational skills and sound judgment under pressure.
- Experience managing competing workstreams without losing details.
