About the Role

The company is transforming its 2000+ microservices across regulated global sites into a modular financial cloud platform. As Platform Architect, you will own the version engineering and module governance architecture, ensuring reproducible deployments, computable blast radius for changes, and known-good site compositions. This role addresses build systems, dependency management, and change propagation with financial-grade reliability.

Responsibilities

  • Design the version set model, defining each site as a locked, tested combination of module versions with compatibility matrices and automatic constraint solving.
  • Architect reproducible build pipelines ensuring byte-identical artifacts regardless of build environment or time, utilizing hermetic build environments, content-addressable artifact storage, and SLSA Level 3+ provenance.
  • Build and maintain the live dependency graph for over 2000 services using static and runtime analysis, including transitive dependency resolution and automatic conflict detection.
  • Design the monorepo and package ownership governance model with clear module boundaries, CODEOWNERS enforcement, cross-module change protocols, and boundary enforcement tooling.
  • Architect change impact analysis systems to compute affected modules, sites, and tests for any PR, enabling selective test execution and change confidence scoring.
  • Design the GitOps-driven multi-site deployment model, managing site configurations and automated deployment strategies.
  • Architect a four-layer testing framework covering module self-tests, platform compliance tests, cross-module integration tests, and site-specific tests, with automated coverage enforcement.

Requirements

  • 10+ years in large-scale distributed systems / platform infrastructure.
  • Deep expertise in build systems and dependency management at scale (e.g., Bazel, Buck, Pants, Nx) for 1000+ packages.
  • Production experience with reproducible build engineering, including content-addressable storage, hermetic builds, deterministic CI, and artifact provenance (SLSA).
  • Experience building dependency graph tooling for static/runtime analysis, impact computation, and selective testing.
  • Strong background in semantic versioning governance across large service fleets, including version resolution, compatibility constraints, and lockfile-style pinning.
  • Experience with API contract evolution, including protobuf/gRPC versioning, schema evolution strategies, and contract testing.
  • Experience with multi-region/multi-tenant platform architectures serving regulated workloads.
  • Track record of migrating monolithic systems to modular architectures without business disruption.
  • Preferred: Experience with Amazon's internal VersionSet / Brazil build system / Apollo deployment, or similar systems at Google (Blaze/Bazel), Meta (Buck/Configerator).
  • Preferred: Background at Stripe or Adyen, focusing on multi-country financial platforms with compliance parameterization.

Experience Level

  • 10+ years

  • Transforming into a modular financial cloud platform.
  • Organizing services into 50-100 independently versioned business modules.
  • Each compliance site is a version set (a pinned, validated combination of module versions).
