About the Role

Trunk Tools is hiring a Strategy & Operations Manager to act as a force multiplier across the business, sitting at the intersection of operations, strategy, and all business functions. This role involves using AI to transform manual workflows into systems and applying sharp business judgment to critical problems. It's a builder role with significant ownership, functioning as a hybrid internal PM and chief-of-staff, responsible for deciding what to build, prioritizing across functions, and shipping essential tooling and answers.

Responsibilities

  • Automate AI-powered business processes by treating company manual workflows as a backlog, identifying repeatable tasks across finance, ops, marketing, and GTM, and developing automated systems.
  • Own cross-functional strategy and analysis projects from problem framing to decision driving, utilizing financial models, marketing campaigns, and GTM funnels.
  • Act as the in-house expert for applying frontier AI to operating problems, building lightweight agents and automations, and enhancing the team's AI capabilities.
  • Serve as a connective tissue between functions, translating manual processes into repeatable systems to accelerate organizational efficiency.
  • Stand up the first end-to-end automated workflow on the demand-gen side.
  • Map current manual workflows across finance, people, marketing, and GTM, and implement automation quick wins.
  • Integrate the first AI-orchestration step, such as a lightweight agent for analysis or reporting.
  • Own one cross-functional strategic project from framing to recommendation.
  • Publish a prioritized roadmap for automation and operating improvements, with outcomes measured against clear business objectives.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience in a hyper-growth startup, vertical SaaS, or AI-first environment, demonstrating success amidst ambiguity and rapid change.
  • AI fluency with frontier models, tools, API calls, and MCPs, with the ability to create working agentic automations.
  • Strong, broad business acumen, with the ability to analyze problems in finance, people, marketing, or GTM and identify key drivers of success.
  • Exceptional communication skills, including clear problem framing, crisp explanation of thinking, and effective translation between technical and commercial audiences.
  • A builder's instinct for workflow automation and process, capable of quickly transforming messy business problems into working systems.
  • A product mindset, enabling prioritization, scoping, and delivery of solutions for internal stakeholders.
  • Comfort in a fast-paced, ambiguous, execution-focused environment with end-to-end ownership of outcomes.
  • Hands-on experience with AI automation tools such as Clay, Claude, ChatGPT, and Zapier is a plus.
  • Familiarity with finance and analytical modeling is a plus.
  • Familiarity with the construction, AEC, or vertical-SaaS industry is a plus.
