This position focuses on integrating, deploying, testing, maintaining, and enhancing the platform and its supporting services to ensure reliable use by learners and institutional partners. The developer will translate existing VSP features into a stable, production-ready system, while also contributing to broader technology development, infrastructure setup, and technical support activities within the SHN Research Institute (SHNRI).

Responsibilities

  • Develop features end-to-end across the frontend, backend, data layer, and agents.
  • Build and improve real-time, voice-API-powered conversational patient interactions, optimizing for latency, reliability, and quality.
  • Strengthen the AI assessment pipeline by developing LLM-driven audio/video and rubric analysis tools backed by validated evaluation frameworks.
  • Design for scale by refining permissions, multi-tenant architectures, administrative workflows, and data security/privacy standards.
  • Manage cloud infrastructure and DevOps pipelines including AWS, database migrations, deployments, and CI/CD environments.
  • Build usage tracking, metering, and consumption analytics to support billing and capacity planning.
  • Support technical scoping and translate product requirements into engineering roadmaps.
  • Assist in the setup and maintenance of hardware- and software-related infrastructure within SHNRI, including GPU configuration and AI workflow integrations.
  • Collaborate with IT and Cybersecurity teams to ensure institutional compliance, data protection, and platform security.
  • Adhere to strict technical standards, including standard Git workflows, code reviews, quality assurance, end-to-end testing, and observability.
  • Maintain up-to-date system documentation, logs of activities, and technical materials.
  • Work cross-functionally with designers, research coordinators, and business development teams to clarify requirements.
  • Perform other duties and provide administrative support as assigned and required.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of full-stack software engineering experience.
  • Advanced proficiency in Python and Python-based API frameworks.
  • Advanced proficiency in database management with PostgreSQL or compatible managed services (Supabase, Neon, AWS RDS).
  • Advanced experience in building authentication, role-based access control, Single Sign-On (SSO), and multi-tenant architectures.
  • Advanced experience in end-to-end testing, debugging, system monitoring, and production support.
  • Advanced proficiency in using AI-assisted coding tools (Claude Code, Cursor, Codex) to augment engineering velocity without sacrificing code quality.
  • Advanced communication, project management, and problem-solving skills with high agency and initiative.
  • Intermediate experience with React, Next.js, and modern frontend frameworks.
  • Intermediate experience with AWS or similar cloud infrastructure platforms and DevOps practices.
  • Intermediate experience working in cross-functional teams with designers, product managers, and researchers.
