About the Role
As a Senior Engineer on our Developer Experience team, you will help own the technical direction of the tools, platforms and processes that let our engineers build with speed, confidence and security. You will bring a customer-oriented mindset, deep software engineering and/or platform engineering experience, and the judgement to decide which developer problems are worth solving. You will lead the design of our "golden path", gather requirements from developers, build the data foundation to measure impact of devex work (e.g. DORA and developer satisfaction) and mentor other engineers on the team. Regular collaboration with product engineering teams, Infrastructure and Security will be key to making sure every engineer can do their best work.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and evolution of shared libraries, base images, CI/CD templates, and application Helm charts in partnership with Infrastructure.
- Own the developer feedback loop by running interviews and surveys, tracking DORA and SPACE metrics, and creating a prioritized roadmap.
- Design and ship autonomous multi-agent systems for automated code review, intelligent test generation, and context gathering.
- Build automation and internal tooling to remove toil and shorten the develop-build-test iteration loop.
- Own and manage developer-centric tools and vendors, including source control, artifact registries, documentation platforms, AI development platforms, and the central service catalog.
- Build SAST, DAST, SCA, and supply chain controls into pipelines in partnership with the Security team.
- Mentor other DevEx engineers, review designs and code, and drive adoption through documentation, training, and clear communication.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional software engineering, platform engineering, or DevOps experience with a track record of designing, shipping, and operating internal platforms or tooling.
- Deep experience building and optimizing CI/CD with tools such as GitLab CI, ArgoCD, or Argo Workflows.
- Strong programming and scripting skills (e.g., Python, Go, TypeScript, Bash).
- Demonstrated experience building agentic AI systems that automate complex, non-linear workflows.
- Day-to-day fluency with AI coding tools (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor) and a clear view of their risks, costs, and guardrails.
- Hands-on experience with containers, Kubernetes delivery (Docker, Helm, Kustomize), and infrastructure as code (e.g., Terraform).
- Familiarity with developer portals, service catalogs (e.g., Backstage), and developer-productivity metrics (DORA, SPACE).
- A customer-centric, product mindset with a genuine interest in making other engineers' work easier.
- Pragmatic technical judgment to turn ambiguity into clear designs and balance speed with quality and security.
- A collaborative, influential approach to earn trust across teams.
- A strong sense of accountability and responsibility for end-to-end outcomes.
- Curiosity and an AI-first mindset, using AI tools daily and staying curious about new capabilities.
