About the Role
The Sr. Payroll Analyst supports accurate and timely payroll processing while providing hands-on technical support for Dayforce. This intermediate-level role combines day-to-day payroll processing with payroll systems support, vendor coordination, and structured testing of payroll-related changes. You will work closely with Payroll, HR Technology, and other partners to ensure payroll requirements, controls, and employee impacts are understood, tested, and validated through system updates and Atlantic’s broader HR technology transformation. This is an opportunity to strengthen your payroll systems expertise while contributing to a large technology transformation at Atlantic Packaging.
Responsibilities
- Support accurate and timely payroll processing by reviewing payroll inputs, employee changes, earnings, deductions, retroactive adjustments, and other transactions for completeness and accuracy.
- Perform payroll audits, reconciliations, and data validation, investigate discrepancies, and work with the Payroll team to resolve issues before payroll close.
- Provide hands-on functional and technical support for Dayforce Payroll, including troubleshooting system and data issues, supporting system updates, and validating payroll-related changes.
- Coordinate vendor management activities such as support tickets, issue follow-up, change requests, testing, documentation, and tracking vendor deliverables.
- Support Dayforce releases, enhancements, and payroll-related system changes by assessing impacts, completing test scenarios, documenting results, and confirming readiness for production.
- Support Atlantic’s HR technology transformation by documenting payroll requirements, participating in user acceptance and parallel testing, tracking defects, validating integrations, and confirming payroll requirements are met before go-live.
- Partner with Payroll, HR Technology, HR, Finance, IT, and external vendors to resolve payroll system and data issues and support reliable end-to-end processes.
- Maintain payroll procedures, system documentation, controls, and testing evidence to support consistent processing, knowledge transfer, and audit readiness.
- Identify opportunities to improve payroll accuracy, controls, workflows, and system use, while escalating risks and defects in a timely manner.

- Experience troubleshooting payroll system and data issues, supporting system updates, and completing structured testing or user acceptance testing.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to identify variances, investigate root causes, and follow issues through to resolution.
- Strong Excel skills and confidence working with payroll data, reconciliations, reports, and large data sets.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet payroll deadlines.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively with Payroll, HR, Finance, IT, and external vendors.
- Post-secondary education in payroll, accounting, business, human resources, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- Experience supporting payroll in a manufacturing and/or unionized environment.
