About the Role
The Business Intelligence Analyst builds and maintains reporting, dashboards, and automated workflows. This role transforms company data into actionable insights for leadership and converts manual processes into automated workflows.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain reporting and dashboards for project teams and corporate departments.
- Maintain the published reporting portfolio, including refresh schedules, access management, and report retirement.
- Build data models to enable business users to answer follow-up questions independently.
- Apply company brand standards to all published reports and client-facing deliverables.
- Implement row-level security to ensure users see only relevant data.
- Ensure all published reports render correctly on mobile devices.
- Design, build, test, and maintain automated workflows to replace manual data entry and routing.
- Convert existing form-based and spreadsheet-based intake processes into web-based workflows with approval routing, notification, and audit history.
- Document all automations with a process map, business owner, and failure/escalation path.
- Monitor deployed workflows, resolve failures, and maintain version control.
- Build automations on the company's low-code platform or in code, documenting the approach and rationale.
- Write and maintain queries against the company data warehouse and connected systems.
- Maintain data pipelines feeding the reporting environment from operating, financial, and document systems.
- Own the reporting data warehouse end-to-end, including ingestion, data modeling, refresh schedules, backups, access control, and documentation.
- Own the master-data crosswalk for project, vendor, and cost-code identifiers across operating systems, resolving conflicts at the source.
- Run automated data quality tests on pipelines and publish a monthly data-quality scorecard.
- Run data quality checks and investigate/resolve discrepancies between source systems and reports.
- Maintain documentation of data definitions to ensure consistent measure interpretation.
- Manage requests through the departmental intake process, accurately scope them, and commit to realistic delivery dates.
- Escalate competing priorities instead of absorbing them.
- Train end users on delivered solutions and produce reference materials.
- Present findings and recommendations to project teams and department leaders in plain language.
- Measure and report the usage of all published reports, retiring or rebuilding unused reports.
- Work to a development plan covering data modeling, query performance, automation reliability, and domain knowledge.
- Undertake progressively larger scope as capability is demonstrated.
- Stay current on company platforms and their future direction.
- Maintain confidentiality of financial, personnel, and client information.
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
Requirements

- Working proficiency writing queries against a relational database, including joins, aggregation, and window functions.
- Demonstrated ability to design dimensional data models (fact and dimension tables) and build version-controlled, tested SQL transformations.
- Working knowledge of row-level security and data model design on a business intelligence platform.
- Demonstrated ability to build working automated workflows, including approval routing.
