About the Role
Canada Rocket Company is seeking a Senior Architect to lead the layout and long-term phasing of its factory infrastructure. This founding role involves designing production facilities that optimize material, parts, people, and vehicle flow for speed, safety, and expandability, ensuring the factory can grow with production rates without interruption. You will be a key part of CRC’s infrastructure group, defining the design of test, launch, and manufacturing sites from concept to operation.
Responsibilities
- Lead the factory master plan, including site layout, building program, and phased expansion aligned with production targets.
- Design production areas based on product flow, collaborating with manufacturing, test, and supply chain on capacity studies, equipment layouts, and material/vehicle movement.
- Plan for large-vehicle handling, specifying crane coverage, clear heights, door sizes, and transport routes.
- Assess sites and buildings for architectural, fire/life safety, structural, and MEP feasibility.
- Review and seal architectural drawings and permit packages.
- Provide preliminary budgets and schedules for new buildings and fit-outs.
- Lead building code, fire, and life safety strategy with authorities.
- Provide architectural direction and review within the design team, coordinating with electrical, mechanical, and structural leads.
- Apply layout discipline to test sites, launch sites, and other locations as they expand.
Requirements
- Degree in architecture.
- Licensed architect with the OAA (Ontario Association of Architects), in good standing.
- 7+ years of architectural design experience for industrial or manufacturing facilities, including at least one production facility from concept to operation.
- Demonstrated ability to plan layouts around manufacturing flow and future expansion.
- Working command of the Ontario Building Code and fire and life safety requirements for industrial occupancies.
- Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, and Bluebeam.
- Ability to work on-site in Toronto with regular travel to other CRC sites.
- Comfortable in a startup environment with evolving processes.
