About the Role

We're looking for a Business Intelligence Engineer who thrives at the intersection of data engineering, analytics and applied AI. Someone who can build robust data infrastructure, develop intelligent automations and turn complex business challenges into scalable, practical solutions. At OpenTable, data does more than tell us what happened. It helps us understand what comes next, uncover opportunities and build smarter ways of working. This isn't a traditional BI role focused solely on reporting and dashboards. You'll have the opportunity to shape how we use data, AI and automation across the business, working closely with stakeholders to solve meaningful problems and deliver measurable impact.

Responsibilities

  • Build scalable data infrastructure: Design, develop and maintain reliable data pipelines, ETL/ELT processes and data models that support analytics and business operations.
  • Develop AI-powered solutions: Apply modern AI technologies and APIs to build intelligent workflows, automate processes and solve real business challenges.
  • Turn data into actionable insights: Create analytical tools, reporting solutions and automated systems that improve decision-making, efficiency and business performance.
  • Partner with stakeholders: Collaborate with technical and non-technical teams to gather requirements, understand challenges and translate business needs into effective technical solutions.
  • Own solutions end to end: Lead projects from discovery and design through development, deployment and optimisation, ensuring solutions are scalable, reliable and maintainable.

Requirements

  • Proven programming expertise: Hands-on experience with Python and SQL, including developing data pipelines, integrations and automated workflows.
  • Modern data engineering experience: Proficiency with Snowflake or similar cloud data warehouses, alongside data modelling, ETL/ELT processes and orchestration tools such as Apache Airflow.
  • Practical applied AI knowledge: Experience integrating modern AI APIs, large language models (LLMs) or AI-powered technologies into business applications and workflows.
  • Excellent stakeholder management: Proven ability to gather requirements, challenge assumptions and communicate complex technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences.
  • A solutions-focused mindset: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to independently navigate ambiguity, prioritise effectively and deliver reliable, commercially valuable solutions.
