About the Role
You will be the first hire in our product function, taking high-level vision and turning it into actionable features, user stories, and acceptance criteria for engineering and design teams. This is a hands-on role where you will own the backlog, run refinement, and be involved in daily details, offering a foundation for a growing product career.
Responsibilities
- Break epics into well-structured features, user stories, and testable acceptance criteria
- Own and prioritize the product backlog, balancing customer value, commercial impact, regulatory need, and technical effort
- Lead backlog refinement, sprint planning, and sprint reviews with engineering and design
- Turn complex ideas into clear user flows, process maps, and diagrams using Miro, Confluence, and similar tools
- Work with compliance, risk, operations, dealing, marketing, and customer service to capture requirements early
- Challenge assumptions using customer insight, data, and commercial reasoning
- Use product analytics and customer feedback to measure shipped products and shape future development
- Help define product processes, including templates, Definition of Ready and Done, and documentation standards
Requirements
- 2+ years in an agile delivery team as a Product Owner, Business Analyst, or similar role
- Track record of writing clear user stories and acceptance criteria (e.g., Given/When/Then) that engineers build without rework
- Hands-on Scrum or Kanban experience, including running ceremonies
- Strong working knowledge of Jira and Confluence, plus a whiteboarding tool like Miro or FigJam
- A strong academic record or equivalent evidence of fast learning
- Commercial awareness and a customer-first, data-led mindset
- Confidence to challenge constructively and openness to be challenged
- Excellent written communication skills
- Experience in fintech, trading, investing, payments, or another regulated industry
- Experience on mobile app products
- Familiarity with product analytics tools (PostHog, Metabase, etc.) or basic SQL
- A Product Owner certification (PSPO or CSPO) is useful, but not required
