About the Role
At Monumental, we are automating on-site construction using robotics and software. Our operating system, Atrium, manages everything from 3D structure design to robot fleet management, operational planning, and data analysis. As we scale operations and manufacturing, our software needs continue to grow. We are developing internal applications for scheduling robot operators, planning site logistics and maintenance, and enhancing manufacturing processes. This role involves building and improving internal tools, transitioning manual processes to software, and taking products from concept to completion with significant autonomy.
Responsibilities
- Understand problems from colleagues, prototype solutions, and iterate based on feedback, often within the same day.
- Design and build tools for managing a distributed robot fleet across multiple sites.
- Extend Fenestra, an internal tool for data viewing and editing.
- Transition prototypes from operations and manufacturing teams to production, refining data models and code.
- Collaborate with hardware engineers, control engineers, and robot operators to create optimal product experiences for complex challenges.
- Write clean, idiomatic, typed production TypeScript and React code.
- Debug memory leaks, crashes, and other issues by investigating root causes.
- Deploy and maintain new backend services required for developed tools.
Requirements
- Experience building full-featured web applications using idiomatic TypeScript.
- Proven experience in building products in a zero-to-one environment, either independently or within a small team (demonstrable through side projects, indie apps, etc.).
- An eye for good UI and UX design.
- A strong sense of ownership and ability to drive projects independently.
- Comfortable using coding agents for faster development while maintaining full ownership of AI-assisted features.
- Ability to quickly learn new languages and tools.
- Basic familiarity with Linux systems, including using SSH for troubleshooting.
- React experience is a plus.
- Rust experience is a plus.
