About the Role
Block by Block California employs Ambassadors to enhance public spaces, making them friendlier, safer, and cleaner. This role is ideal for individuals who are outgoing, enjoy working outdoors, and interacting with new people. It's also a great opportunity for retirees, veterans, and graduating high school seniors.
Responsibilities
- Patrol the assigned zone on foot and/or bike to deter unwanted behavior.
- Provide information, assistance, and directions to pedestrians and visitors with a positive, professional demeanor.
- Observe and report unwanted behaviors or criminal activity to local authorities, providing accurate descriptions.
- Politely request compliance from individuals violating quality-of-life ordinances.
- Engage pedestrians with friendly greetings and provide city information.
- Visit zone businesses to share information and gather contact details.
- Complete basic daily reports, demonstrating proficiency in English speaking, reading, and writing.
Requirements
- Valid CA BSIS Guard Card required.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Physical capacity to walk or traverse continuously during an eight-hour shift, including breaks and lunch.
- Ability to work outdoors in all conditions.
- Proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing the English language for report completion.
