About the Role
Alta Ares is an air defense Neoprime that builds AI-guided interceptors and the software platform to power them. Our systems are deployed by NATO-aligned militaries and defense institutions globally. We are entering a new phase of international expansion, industrial scaling, fundraising, and product development.
Responsibilities
- Define and consistently apply the Alta Ares product design Look & Feel across the entire product range, including shapes, materials, colors, finishes, and markings.
- Design product aesthetics to establish a distinctive market identity.
- Ensure a high level of perceived quality, encompassing handling, transport, packaging, and unboxing experiences.
- Design for field use, considering aspects like battery access, carry handles, deployment, and operation in degraded conditions or with gloves.
- Integrate DFx (Manufacturing, Assembly, Usability, Serviceability) into all designs through collaboration with Mechanical Engineering, Industrialization, and Production teams.
- Produce sketches, renders, CMF specifications, 3D CAD models, and prototypes, participating in design reviews through to industrialization.
- Incorporate feedback from operators, customers, and demo teams to drive design improvements.
- Manage external design and DFM partners by defining specifications, reviewing work, and integrating recommendations.
- Support Marketing with visual assets for customers and trade shows.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience as an Industrial Designer working on physical products such as rugged equipment, electronics, defense, aerospace, or outdoor gear.
- Experience with the complete product lifecycle, from concept to industrialization.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks) and rendering tools (e.g., KeyShot).
- Experience with manufacturing processes including injection molding, machining, sheet metal, 3D printing, and composites.
- Knowledge of DFM/DFA principles.
- Hands-on experience with prototyping and user testing.
- Ability to collaborate across R&D, Production, and Product teams in a fast-paced environment.
- Fluent in English; French is preferred.
- Eligible for French security clearance.
