About the Role
As the founding Country Manager Japan, you will build Vice Golf Japan from the ground up, working 100% remotely within Japan and reporting directly to our COO. This role is crucial for our deliberate market entry into Japan in 2027, aiming to revolutionize the golf industry.
Responsibilities
- Own the Japanese market commercially, leading key negotiations and managing sales partners.
- Open and grow new channels, including pro shops, driving ranges, and indoor golf studios.
- Build the local foundation, including Japanese entity, import/customs setup, 3PL, warehouse, customer care, and e-commerce.
- Hire and lead the Japan team, collaborating with the Tokyo-based brand and community lead.
- Own the Japan P&L, including planning, forecasting, and reporting to the COO.
- Protect the brand through price integrity, selective distribution, and maintaining Japanese service standards.
Requirements
- Native Japanese speaker with fluent business English.
- 10+ years in the Japanese golf industry or premium sporting goods with a strong commercial track record.
- Established relationships with major golf retailers, e-commerce platforms, or specialty retail in Japan.
- Experience working for a foreign brand in Japan, ideally during market entry or growth.
- Hands-on build experience, including setting up structures, partners, or teams.
- Comfortable operating without a large organization.
- A feel for design-led brands and the new generation of Japanese golfers.
