About the Role
Yojee provides visible, intelligent, and efficient shipment tracking technology. We are building enterprise-grade, data-intensive applications for global logistics networks, optimizing freight flow across air, ocean, and road. This role offers the opportunity to own product features end-to-end, from problem framing to production health, working with Elixir services and React interfaces.
Responsibilities
- Own features end-to-end across the stack, from problem definition through Elixir/Phoenix services, React/TypeScript UI, rollout, and post-launch health.
- Make sound architectural decisions across both backend and frontend.
- Set the quality bar by writing clean, well-tested, maintainable code and providing substantive code reviews.
- Lead the design and evolution of patterns, abstractions, and shared components.
- Improve performance, observability, and developer experience.
- Drive squad-level technical decisions and influence how other engineers approach problems.
- Onboard and informally mentor more junior engineers.
- Translate technical context clearly for non-engineers.
- Operate as a product engineer, understanding user problems and business rationale.
- Use AI deliberately to accelerate work with coding agents, agentic prompting, and MCP-based tooling.
- Recognize and manage risks in AI-generated code and personal work.
Requirements
- 6+ years of experience building, shipping, and owning modern production web applications across backend and frontend.
- Experience with production health responsibility, not just initial delivery.
- Strong functional programming background (Elixir adoption considered).
- Solid understanding of distributed systems or event-driven architectures.
- Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL ideal).
- Experience with operational concerns (CI/CD, observability, performance).
- Strong React, TypeScript, JavaScript, and CSS fundamentals.
- Comfortable with state management, performance tuning, accessibility, and testing strategy in data-dense interfaces.
- Track record on complex enterprise web applications where state, latency, and edge cases matter.
- Hands-on experience designing and evolving patterns, libraries, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience setting quality bars that others adopt.
- Make engineering decisions with user problem, business rationale, and maintainability in mind.
- Ability to articulate technical debt and trade-offs to non-engineers.
- Operate effectively when problems are ambiguous, breaking them down into executable work.
- Raise risks early and follow through to verify expected behavior.
- Practical experience using coding agents, agentic prompting, and MCP-style tooling.
- Ability to articulate where AI accelerates work, where it misleads, and how to validate its output.
- Clear, calibrated, and direct communication.
- Comfortable giving and receiving substantive feedback.
- Able to disagree well and update views based on evidence.
