About the Role
Magic Spoon is seeking a procurement professional to own sourcing across raw materials and packaging, lead supplier negotiations, drive cost savings, and support product commercialization. The ideal candidate is commercially minded, highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive, with the ability to balance strategic projects with day-to-day supplier management and urgent supply chain needs. This role requires a hands-on approach, comfortable with both strategic and tactical execution.
Responsibilities
- Execute sourcing initiatives across raw materials and packaging, leading competitive bids, supplier evaluations, and pricing negotiations.
- Manage supplier and co-manufacturer relationships, including contracts, performance tracking, and issue resolution.
- Oversee procurement planning and material availability, aligning supplier commitments and lead times with production forecasts and launch needs.
- Support commercialization by sourcing and qualifying new ingredients and packaging in partnership with R&D and Innovation teams.
- Monitor commodity markets and supply chain trends to identify cost risks, disruptions, and savings opportunities.
- Support cost optimization projects through cost modeling, benchmarking or supplier and co-man outreach.
- Maintain accurate procurement data, such as supplier contracts, pricing, and sourcing trackers.
- Partner cross-functionally with R&D, Quality, Creative and Finance, to align procurement with business needs.
- Potentially manage a remote, offshore employee, with scope and timing to be determined.
Requirements
- 3–6 years of experience in procurement, sourcing, supply chain within CPG, food & beverage (ideal), if not, other consumer products.
- Demonstrated experience running competitive bidding processes and negotiating with suppliers.
- Strong analytical skills - comfortable building cost models, analyzing market data, and translating findings into actionable recommendations.
- Familiarity with raw material and commodity ingredients relevant to food manufacturing (proteins, sweeteners, grains, fats/oils, packaging).
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to clearly present findings to cross-functional partners.
- Comfortable engaging suppliers directly — calls, site visits, whatever it takes.
- A self-starter mentality with a bias toward action; comfortable operating with limited oversight in a lean, fast-moving environment.
- Proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets; experience with ERP or procurement platforms is a plus.
- Must be in possession of identification proving authorization to work in the United States, as we are not able to offer sponsorship of Work Visas.
