About the Role

We are seeking a Field Engineering Subject Matter Expert focused on Data Center delivery to define how complex enterprise and hyperscale field work is prepared, delivered, validated, and improved. This senior technical individual contributor role requires deep data center field experience combined with the ability to translate that experience into scalable delivery capabilities. You will support the full opportunity and delivery lifecycle, including sales support, feasibility validation, standards development, high-risk project support, and employee/partner development.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the practice level technical authority for Data Center delivery across Field Engineering.
  • Support complex customer pursuits and sales motions by reviewing scope, field conditions, technical assumptions, acceptance requirements, labor drivers, and delivery risk.
  • Partner with Sales, Solutions, and Costing/Estimating to determine technical feasibility, scope accuracy, supportability, and alignment with field experience.
  • Develop and maintain repeatable technical standards, work package requirements, methods, readiness criteria, quality checklists, testing requirements, documentation standards, and acceptance evidence.
  • Define repeatable methods for rack build, hardware deployment, white space, migration, quality, cleanliness, labeling, evidence, and acceptance for enterprise and hyperscale programs.
  • Support Project Engineers and delivery teams during complex deployments, escalations, quality issues, root cause analysis, and customer recovery.
  • Define technical skills, training, assessment, and qualification expectations for Field Engineering employees and delivery partners.
  • Assess partner technical capability and readiness for defined work types.
  • Analyze recurring defects, delivery results, and execution gaps to improve standards, artifacts, training, estimating guidance, and preventive actions.
  • Review field work requirements to improve future labor assumptions, productivity inputs, tooling, testing, partner requirements, and delivery methods.
  • Help develop and launch new services through pilots, technical readiness reviews, and repeatable delivery methods.
  • Manage rack installation, rack build, land and level, rack and stack, hardware deployment, and integration.
  • Oversee rack level patching, interconnect, cable management, labeling, evidence, cleanliness, and physical quality.
  • Engage in hyperscale, data hall, white space, enterprise data center, and large scale integration programs.
  • Support data center migrations, hardware refresh, deployment sequencing, commissioning, and recovery planning.
  • Develop technical work packages, rack build instructions, methods of procedure, readiness checklists, quality checkpoints, acceptance evidence, and closeout standards.

Requirements

  • Ten or more years of progressive experience in data center infrastructure, rack integration, hyperscale deployment, or related professional services delivery.
  • At least five years supporting complex or large scale data center programs.
  • Demonstrated field delivery depth in enterprise or hyperscale data centers, including rack installation, rack build, hardware deployment, patching, migrations, testing, or commissioning support.
  • Experience translating technical documentation into repeatable field work packages.
  • Strong understanding of data center safety, cleanliness, contamination control, rack power, grounding and bonding, airflow and cooling, pathways, containment, physical security, and commissioning dependencies.
  • Experience building technical standards, methods of procedure, work packages, quality checklists, training, or other repeatable delivery artifacts.
  • Experience supporting customer-facing technical discussions, sales pursuits, solution development, estimating or costing, and statements of work.
  • Experience leading technical escalations, root cause analysis, corrective action, and quality recovery in mission critical environments.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to influence across functions without direct authority.
  • Willingness to travel based on customer and business requirements and to support nonstandard work windows.
  • Experience with hyperscale, AI data center, large data hall, cloud, colocation, or large enterprise data center delivery.
  • Experience with rack integration, factory or service center build, staging, logistics, and field installation workflows.
  • Experience in a partner-led or subcontracted delivery model.
  • Experience mentoring senior technical professionals and developing technical training.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical discipline or equivalent practical experience.
