About the Role
The produce clerk position is an essential part of our produce team, providing customers with quality fresh fruits and vegetables in a friendly and courteous manner to ensure repeat visits.
Responsibilities
- Asks customers if they need assistance and suggests additional sales in the produce department
- Accurately packages, prices, and stocks products within the department
- Monitors products being stocked to ensure they meet or exceed customer expectations
- Maintains a thorough knowledge of products, ingredients, and services provided by the department
- Cuts and packages fruits and vegetables for prepared foods service
- Ensures State and County safety and sanitation standards are met with all equipment, surfaces, and floors within the department and the proper methods are used when handling food
Requirements
- At least 1 year of friendly and welcoming customer service
- Grocery and/or retail experience preferred
- Exceptional communication skills
- Highly motivated individual with the ability to multi-task
- Team player with the ability to work independently at times
- Focused and efficient
- The ability to stand, walk, lift and bend for extended periods of time
- The ability to work at minimum, two days during the week and one weekend day
