About the Role
As an Algorithm Developer at Via, you will join our R&D center in London, as part of the Core R&D group, responsible for developing and maintaining Via’s proprietary algorithms and the services that run them in production. This position requires deep knowledge of algorithms, data structures, software engineering methodologies and best practices. You will maintain and improve current algorithms and business logic, as well as develop new technical products and systems that support the various needs at Via. This role is ideal for a developer who enjoys working on large-scale algorithms in a hands-on environment.
Responsibilities
- Take full ownership of a large and complex codebase that implements Via’s core algorithm.
- Develop and maintain multiple mission-critical services.
- Make an immediate impact on Via’s thousands of daily passengers and clients worldwide, such as significantly improving booking application response times.
- Collaborate closely with DevOps teams and algorithms developers and researchers.
Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years of hands-on industry experience in backend development (Python).
- Experience with DevOps in cloud infrastructure (Kubernetes, etc.) is a strong advantage.
- Experience in architecture and maintaining cloud systems is a strong advantage.
- Solid background in software engineering methodologies, such as Git, CI/CD.
- Ability to quickly master concepts, disciplines, and methods.
- Ability to work well with people and independently.
- Ability to deconstruct a problem into smaller problems.
- Ability to deliver results in a simple, elegant way.
