About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Designer to create striking, market-leading book covers and special editions for Canelo and fiction custom projects. This role involves leading design efforts, bringing innovation, and shaping the creative vision within a dynamic team.

Responsibilities

Designing market-leading covers for Canelo and preparing print-ready files.
Overseeing freelance cover design and expanding the freelance designer pool.
Leading the design and execution of special editions and box sets with premium finishes.
Presenting designs at divisional jacket meetings and the weekly global Sales Jacket Meeting.
Collaborating with Editorial, Production, Sales, and Marketing & PR teams for project completion.
Creating and maintaining sales and presentation assets for key markets.
Supporting Marketing & PR initiatives.
Serving as the primary design point of contact for both imprints.
Negotiating terms and rates with external suppliers and monitoring workflows.
Monitoring workflows to prevent budget overspends or schedule slippage.

Requirements

Proven experience in designing fiction and non-fiction covers from conception to print in a fast-paced environment.
High technical expertise in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator).
Exceptional eye for detail, strong visual literacy, and experience in picture research and artwork management.
Exceptional typographic skills.
Experience in commissioning illustration and preferably photography.
In-depth knowledge of print processes, color management, and file setup for pre-production.
Strong commercial awareness to identify market trends and tailor designs.
Outstanding time management and stakeholder management skills.
Experience working with North American markets (desirable).
Background designing for crime, thriller, and romance genres (desirable).
