About the Role
As a Duty Security Officer, you will play an essential role in the day-to-day life of Cambridge House by creating an environment where guests, visitors and team members feel safe, cared for and entirely at ease. You will embody professionalism, composure and strength in both routine and unexpected situations, working closely with the Front of House and broader operational teams to support a secure, seamless, and reassuring guest experience.
Responsibilities
- Work as part of the Security team, supporting the protection of the building, its guests and team members while contributing to a calm and welcoming atmosphere.
- Provide a reassuring presence across all areas of the House, ensuring guests and team members feel safe and at ease.
- Carry out regular patrols of guest areas, back of house corridors and historic spaces, remaining attentive to detail and sensitive to the building's character.
- Respond promptly and professionally to incidents, disturbances or emergencies, remaining composed and measured.
- Monitor CCTV, access points and security systems, identifying and addressing irregularities.
- Support the protection of all guests, private events and high-profile arrivals with discretion.
- Assist with access control and key management procedures.
- Support fire life safety checks, routine safety inspections and emergency preparedness procedures.
- Report incidents clearly and accurately, ensuring all relevant details are recorded.
- Work collaboratively with other departments to ensure security measures integrate smoothly with daily hotel operations.
- Maintain awareness of all activity around the House, remaining alert to anything unusual while respecting guest privacy.
- Assist in maintaining a secure environment for deliveries, contractors and external visitors.
- Uphold all health and safety procedures and company standards.
Requirements
- Previous experience in a Security Officer or similar role within a luxury hotel, private members’ club, or high-end hospitality environment.
- A valid Door Supervisor licence is essential.
- Strong understanding of hotel security operations, including CCTV and access control systems.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Professional personal presentation and a discreet, guest-focused approach.
- Flexibility to work shifts, including nights, weekends, and public holidays.
- A proactive mindset with strong observational skills and attention to detail.
