About the Role
The Search and Discovery team is responsible for creating a world-class search and discovery shopping experience for customers, optimizing the entire search journey from query understanding to personalized recommendations. As a Senior Staff Data Scientist, you will leverage data, experimentation, and analytics to understand customer behavior and drive improvements across search relevance, recommendations, and discovery experiences, partnering closely with cross-functional teams to optimize the search journey for millions of Coupang customers.
Responsibilities
- Own the Data Science function within a core pillar of Search and Discovery org
- Analyze how customers interact with Coupang’s search results to determine how to improve customer experience and business performance
- Lead experiment ideation, design, measurement, and interpretation
- Build datasets to increase the speed and accuracy with which the team analyzes data
- Understand the nuances of ML ranking models, LLMs, and more to determine how our core search product can be optimized
Requirements
- 10+ years experience as a data scientist/analyst in customer-facing technology companies
- Expertise in experimentation and statistics
- Strong coding skills, including SQL and R/Python
- Experience with massive datasets, with an understanding of how to optimize data extraction
- Ability to communicate data concepts simply and succinctly to cross-functional team members, up to the C-suite
- Understanding of ML concepts, and how different model configurations affect model outcomes
