About the Role

Take a pivotal role within Versent Modern Run as an Azure Cloud Engineer, supporting and evolving customer environments built on Microsoft Azure. You will be responsible for the health, stability, security, and performance of cloud platforms, ensuring customers receive reliable, high-quality managed services outcomes. You’ll work closely with customers, delivery teams, and partners to troubleshoot issues, optimise environments, and automate operations, playing a key role in driving operational excellence and continuous improvement across Azure estates. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on cloud engineering, problem-solving in live environments, and building trusted relationships with customers.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting and operating production Azure environments within a managed services context
  • Monitoring platform health, availability, security, and performance
  • Responding to and resolving incidents, problems, and service requests
  • Implementing automation and Infrastructure-as-Code to improve reliability and efficiency
  • Working directly with customers to troubleshoot issues and recommend improvements
  • Applying Azure best practices across security, governance, backup, and cost optimisation
  • Collaborating with internal teams to deliver consistent, high-quality outcomes aligned to SLAs
  • Deliver Level 2/3 technical support for Azure IaaS and PaaS, including virtual machines, networking, storage, identity, and monitoring
  • Troubleshoot and resolve incidents and problems in Azure environments—perform root cause analysis and drive resolution
  • Execute proactive maintenance (patching, scaling, configuration drift control, backups, monitoring)
  • Implement and improve automation using PowerShell, Azure CLI, and IaC tooling
  • Manage change processes, including planned maintenance, upgrades, and security remediations under ITIL/DevOps frameworks
  • Provide day-to-day operational support for Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD) across customer tenants, including user/group lifecycle, app registrations, and enterprise applications
  • Configure, monitor, and troubleshoot Conditional Access policies, balancing security posture with user experience; investigate and remediate sign-in and access issues arising from policy changes
  • Support hybrid identity operations, including Entra Connect (Azure AD Connect) sync health, password hash sync/pass-through authentication/federation troubleshooting, and directory synchronisation issue resolution
  • Operate Identity Governance capabilities such as Privileged Identity Management (PIM), access reviews, and entitlement management, and assist customers with governance and compliance reporting
  • Support Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) configuration, self-service password reset (SSPR), and authentication method policy changes
  • Assist with identity security operations, including monitoring Entra ID sign-in and audit logs, responding to identity-related alerts, and escalating suspected compromise per incident response processes
  • Contribute to least-privilege and RBAC hygiene across Azure subscriptions and Entra roles
  • Serve as a primary technical contact for assigned customer environments
  • Communicate technical issues and recommendations clearly to non-technical audiences
  • Work closely with delivery teams, engineers, and architects to maintain reliable and secure services
  • Participate in continuous service improvement initiatives; contribute to technical documentation, knowledge bases, and automation libraries
  • Actively participate in agile ceremonies and support innovation in cloud operations
  • Ensure compliance with customer security, cost governance, and operational standards
  • Identify, document, and report risks or incidents per MSP protocols
