About the Role
We are seeking a Research Scientist or Senior Research Scientist with Japanese language expertise and speech recognition experience to develop in-vehicle voice interaction solutions. You will collaborate with global R&D and product teams on ASR development, evaluation, tuning, and project delivery.
Responsibilities
- Develop and improve Japanese ASR models and solutions for automotive use cases.
- Support ASR modeling, training, fine-tuning, evaluation, and validation.
- Perform WER/CER and bad-case analysis to support optimization and bug fixing.
- Manage Japanese-specific topics including tokenizers, lexicons, text normalization, names, POIs, and addresses.
- Support customer requirements, testing, and project delivery.
Requirements
- Native or near-native Japanese proficiency (JLPT N1 or equivalent for non-native speakers).
- Fluent English communication skills.
- Hands-on experience in ASR modeling, development, evaluation, tuning, or integration.
- Proficiency in Python, C/C++, or Java.
- Experience working in Linux/Unix environments.
- Master’s degree or higher in a relevant technical field.
- For Senior level: strong technical ownership and production ASR experience.
