About the Role
As a Mechanical Engineer on the Hardware Team in Toronto, you will apply your expertise in mechanical, vibration-control, and cooling solutions to Xanadu's rack-scale quantum computer development. You will model complex devices, design robust mechanical solutions, and take mechanical ownership of photonic computers.
Responsibilities
- Model all elements that make up our complex devices.
- Design and produce robust mechanical solutions to support them.
- Take the mechanical ownership of the world's first photonic computers that will be deployed at scale to serve customers.
Requirements
- BSc or higher in mechanical engineering or relevant related discipline
- 5+ years industry or academic experience in a relevant discipline
- Self-motivated, comfortable working both independently and collaboratively with people of all disciplines on complex projects in a fast-paced environment
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Experience with thermal simulations to achieve optimal temperature stability and uniformity in small enclosures
- Proficiency in GD&T

- Vibration mitigation design, including structural and acoustic vibration in chassis and interconnect assemblies
- High volume sheet metal stamping and forming processes
- DFM principles
- Specifying or designing production rack-scale electrical power distribution
