About the Role
As an AI Engineer/Developer, you will bring AI solutions for our clients from the initial prototype to stable production operation. You will work closely with our PHP and Java development teams, as well as consultants and client IT, and be the technical voice regarding current capabilities and future development opportunities. Shape the AI transformation of companies with us and become part of our Technology & Data Business Unit.
Responsibilities
- Conceive, develop, and maintain productive AI solutions for clients from the initial idea to stable operation.
- Design suitable architectures around LLMs, RAG, and agent-based systems, making informed technical decisions.
- Integrate AI into existing web applications, data landscapes, and business processes of our clients.
- Implement technical concepts with our PHP and Java development teams, ensuring clean code interaction.
- Take responsibility for the quality, security, maintainability, and cost-effectiveness of developed solutions.
- Transition solutions into productive use and provide long-term support, including technical supervision, monitoring, and further development.
- Evaluate new models, frameworks, and technologies based on their practical benefits.
- Coordinate technically with consultants, client IT, and business departments, translating requirements into implementation.
- Contribute to and develop our development standards, architectural principles, and reusable components.
Requirements
- Several years of experience in software development or AI/ML engineering.
- Practical experience with the development and operation of LLM-based applications.
- Independent work on architectures and confident implementation of technical concepts.
- Solid backend competence and practical knowledge in PHP and/or Java.
- Experience with APIs, databases, and integration of existing systems.
- Understanding of core LLM concepts such as prompting, embeddings, retrieval, tool calling, and evaluation.
- Solid engineering practice with Git, automated tests, Docker, and CI/CD.
- Experience with observability, error analysis, and further development of productive applications.
- Understanding of technical trade-offs in scaling, security, and operating costs, and incorporating them into decisions.
- Structured, pragmatic, and independent work style.
- Ability to communicate technical matters clearly; German language skills at C1 level.
