About the Role
Senior Software Engineers at PPRO make significant decisions, contributing to the success of their team's product, culture, and spirit. The Transaction Processing - Gateways team in Berlin builds, enhances, and maintains payment processing products, focusing on the PPRO Global processing gateway to ensure it is feature-rich, scalable, reliable, cost-efficient, secure, and auditable, while reducing integration efforts and time to enable new payment methods.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain PPRO’s main payment processing engine exposed via the PPRO API.
- Own end-to-end products and services from design to production rollout.
- Execute with a "you build it, you run it" mindset, potentially participating in an on-call rotation.
- Share knowledge and build creative solutions while helping teams evolve best practices.
- Be an integral part of an agile team that collaborates closely and transparently via pair programming, asynchronous communication over ADRs and RFCs, knowledge sharing, and brainstorming sessions.
- Use the latest technologies to solve real problems for customers at a massive scale.
Requirements
- Results-orientated, collaborative, pragmatic mindset.
- Experience in designing and building scalable products and services.
- Motivation and appetite for problem solving.
- Skills to break down complex problems into manageable and deliverable pieces.
- Excellent writing and drawing skills and willingness to express ideas to provide the best overview possible.
- Working proficiency in English.
- Knowledge and experience in Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs.
- Knowledge and experience in AWS Cloud components such as EKS, DynamoDB, Kinesis and OpenSearch.
- Knowledge and experience in Event-driven microservice architecture.
- Knowledge and experience in Observability with Datadog.
- Knowledge and experience in IaC via Terraform.
- A background in Payments.
- Hands-on experience with AI as a software engineer.
