About the Role
As a Quality Engineer, you'll play a hands-on role in ensuring the quality of CORTO's accounting and AI-driven products. You'll work closely with Senior Quality Engineers, developers, Product Managers and DevOps engineers to test new products and features, contribute to automation, identify quality risks and ensure releases are reliable. You'll be encouraged to take ownership of your work while continuing to develop your technical skills across automation, APIs, web applications, CI/CD and AI-enabled products.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, execute and maintain automated tests across web and API applications.
- Contribute to existing test automation frameworks using languages such as TypeScript, JavaScript and Python.
- Perform functional, regression, smoke and exploratory testing across new and existing products and features.
- Create clear and maintainable automated tests that follow established QE standards and patterns.
- Test backend services and APIs, including validating requests, responses, integrations and data.
- Work closely with developers to investigate defects, understand technical changes and identify potential quality risks.
- Participate in requirements refinement and technical discussions to help identify test scenarios and quality risks early.
- Contribute automated tests to CI/CD pipelines and help investigate failures within automated test runs.
- Participate in code reviews and use feedback from Senior QEs and developers to continuously improve test code.
- Clearly document defects, test coverage, risks and testing outcomes.
- Contribute to improving QE processes, automation coverage and testing practices across the team.
- Support the testing of AI-enabled features using established tools and approaches.
- Share knowledge with other engineers and actively participate in team learning and collaboration.
Requirements
- Hands-on experience in software testing across web applications and APIs.
- Practical experience creating and maintaining automated tests.
- Working knowledge of at least one programming or scripting language, ideally TypeScript, JavaScript or Python.
- Experience with modern web or API automation tools and frameworks.
- Understanding of API testing, including HTTP requests, responses, status codes and common API behaviours.
- Experience performing functional, regression, smoke and exploratory testing.
- A good understanding of software testing principles, test design and defect management.
- Experience using version control such as Git and working within modern software development workflows.
- Some experience working with CI/CD pipelines and understanding how automated tests fit into the development and release process.
- Ability to investigate failures and defects and work with developers to determine likely causes.
- Ability to understand product requirements and translate them into appropriate test scenarios.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently on defined pieces of work while knowing when to seek guidance.
- A proactive approach to learning and improving your technical skills.
- A genuine interest in product quality and quality engineering.
- Experience testing AI-enabled or AI-driven applications.
- Experience using Playwright or similar modern web automation technologies.
- Experience with automated API testing.
- Exposure to non-functional testing such as performance, load or reliability testing.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS.
- Experience working with data-heavy, financial or accounting applications.
- An interest in using AI tools to improve software testing.
- Takes ownership of your work and follows tasks through to completion.
- Is curious and enjoys understanding how products work, not just whether a test passes or fails.
- Communicates clearly with developers, QEs and other members of the product team.
- Is comfortable asking questions and challenging assumptions when something does not look right.
- Enjoys investigating problems and finding their underlying cause.
- Cares about writing reliable, maintainable automated tests.
