About the Role
We are seeking our first Product Designer to define the look, feel, and functionality of Pace's platform. You will collaborate with engineers, customers, and internal teams from initial problem discovery through final delivery, transforming complex insurance workflows into intuitive user experiences.
Responsibilities
- Own design from discovery through delivery, including customer interaction, workflow understanding, solution exploration, and collaboration with engineers for product integration and feedback incorporation.
- Shape product direction by identifying underlying user needs, challenging assumptions, and guiding the team's prioritization.
- Build a cohesive design system with reusable patterns, components, and interaction principles for platform consistency and extensibility.
- Design user experiences for individuals working with AI, ensuring clarity on agent actions, human review needs, and user control.
- Determine appropriate levels of investment for design solutions, balancing quick prototypes with in-depth exploration and polish.
Requirements
- Ability to thrive in ambiguity and take ownership, delivering strong outcomes with minimal process.
- Capacity to turn open-ended questions into actionable steps and drive work to completion.
- Skill in identifying patterns across requests and building scalable design languages and foundational solutions.
- Strong taste and attention to detail in interaction and visual design, with the ability to articulate design choices.
- Excellent listening and communication skills, capable of extracting insights from customer conversations, translating technical constraints, and facilitating decision-making.
- Ability to move quickly with sound judgment, making progress through prototypes, clear decisions, and collaboration.
- Excitement for building products around AI, with experience in designing or building AI products.
- Startup background or founder experience is a plus.
- Experience designing complex workflows, enterprise software, or tools combining automation and human review is a plus.
- Experience with prototyping in code or close collaboration with engineers on implementation is a plus.
