About the Role
We are seeking a Head of Finance to establish and lead the finance department at Pace. This role involves close collaboration with the founders on financial planning, investment strategies, and scaling the company. You will be responsible for our financial model, providing insights into business economics, and implementing reporting and controls to support informed decision-making. This is a hands-on position with extensive ownership, requiring engagement in evaluating commercial agreements, planning headcount, preparing board materials, and ensuring the accuracy of financial records and cash forecasts.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain the operating model, budget, and forecasts, linking hiring and investment decisions to revenue, margins, cash, and runway.
- Measure the cost of delivering customer workflows, including model usage, infrastructure, deployment, and human review, to identify opportunities for margin improvement.
- Collaborate with Go-To-Market and leadership on pricing, contract economics, payment terms, and profitability.
- Manage accounting, close processes, financial reporting, treasury, tax coordination, and controls, utilizing external partners and building internal capabilities.
- Prepare financial materials for the board and investors, communicate performance, and lead financial diligence and planning for future financing.
- Partner with Business Operations on payments, invoicing, procurement, and financial systems, leveraging automation to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
Requirements
- Experience leading finance or strategic finance at a growing technology company.
- Strong financial modeling skills with a proven ability to translate analysis into operating decisions.
- Proficiency in accounting, cash management, and business economics, with the judgment to seek specialist support when needed.
- Experience partnering with founders and functional leaders on budgets, hiring, and resource allocation.
- Clear communication skills, with the ability to explain financial tradeoffs to both technical and commercial teams.
- Willingness to build processes from scratch and maintain attention to detail.
