In this role, you will lead credit analysis across a portfolio of complex financial institutions and contribute to independent credit opinions relied on by market participants. You will combine rigorous financial analysis, market insight, and sound judgment while helping the team strengthen analytical quality, develop junior colleagues, and responsibly adopt new technology.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality, forward-looking credit analysis that supports clear and well-supported rating opinions.
  • Identify emerging risks by connecting company performance, peer trends, market developments, and broader financial services themes.
  • Contribute market-facing research and insights that help investors, issuers, and other stakeholders understand evolving credit risks.
  • Lead surveillance and analytical updates across an assigned portfolio, ensuring accuracy, consistency, timeliness, and clear reasoning.
  • Evaluate financial and credit data, validate inputs, reconcile key metrics, and document analytical assumptions and model changes.
  • Use approved generative AI and automation capabilities to enhance research and analytical workflows while maintaining appropriate human oversight.
  • Translate complex analysis into clear, decision-useful written and verbal communication for rating committees and external stakeholders.
  • Build trusted relationships with issuers, investors, and market participants and contribute to thought leadership and strategic initiatives.
  • Coach junior analysts on credit fundamentals, financial modeling, analytical quality, and responsible use of technology.
  • Help improve analytical processes, tools, and workflows and support the testing and adoption of new capabilities.
  • Maintain high standards for methodology, documentation, confidentiality, data governance, and responsible AI use.

Requirements

  • Proven credit and financial analysis skills, including the ability to translate complex information into clear, evidence-based conclusions.
  • Strong understanding of financial services and the ability to connect sector and market developments with emerging credit risks.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for rating committee materials and engagement with issuers, investors, and other market participants.
  • Experience coaching or mentoring junior analysts and strengthening analytical quality through constructive feedback and review.
  • Strong judgment and attention to accuracy, analytical rigor, documentation, confidentiality, and governance.
  • An S&P Global employee at this level would typically have 5 to 10 years of relevant experience in corporate credit analysis or a related financial services field.
  • Experience using generative AI, large language models, data tools, or automation within analytical workflows, with appropriate validation and governance.
  • Experience improving processes through standardization, tooling, or automation and supporting the testing and adoption of new capabilities.
