About the Role
CarGurus is seeking a curious and driven Data Analytics Engineer Intern to gain experience in cleaning and building efficient data models to drive business outcomes. This role offers hands-on experience at the intersection of analytics, engineering, and business strategy, working alongside senior engineers and data analysts to deliver trusted insights.
Responsibilities
- Assist in designing and building data products (scalable, reliable data models) using tools such as dbt, Snowflake, and Omni.
- Write modular SQL and Python code using version control, and participate in code reviews.
- Support efforts to improve data infrastructure, testing, documentation, and data reliability.
- Partner with data analysts and senior engineers to understand business questions and translate them into structured data solutions.
- Learn analytics-engineering best practices, modeling patterns, and code hygiene from experienced teammates.
- Identify opportunities to automate, simplify, and improve team efficiency using CarGurus’ AI data platform.
Requirements
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Analytics, Engineering, Statistics, or a related field.
- Experience writing SQL through coursework, projects, or prior internships; familiarity with joins and performant queries.
- Curious and analytical, with an interest in understanding business problems and creating useful solutions.
- A clear communicator and collaborative teammate who can work independently and contribute positively to team culture.
- Detail-oriented, highly driven, and comfortable moving quickly in a fast-paced environment.
- Projects or prior internship experience are a plus, but not required.
