About the Role
NVIDIA is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to contribute to NeMo Helix, a product for developing, evaluating, deploying, and operating AI systems at scale. This role focuses on an open-source, plugin-based AI platform for running and optimizing Agents across various compute backends, enabling autonomous AI systems to efficiently tune architectures and reduce token usage.
Responsibilities
- Work in a product research environment with fast iteration, high ownership, and pragmatic decisions.
- Design an Agentic Execution system flexible for diverse environments (local, k8s, Slurm, on prem/air-gapped).
- Provide senior technical leadership through design reviews, code reviews, and mentoring.
- Build and maintain Core Platform APIs for jobs, data storage, secrets, and RBAC/Auth.
- Extend the flexible Plugin Architecture for easy integration of new capabilities.
- Contribute to the open-source repository, maintaining high community standards.
- Ship code rapidly using agentic coding tools.
- Improve reliability, observability, debuggability, and performance across NeMo Helix components.
- Build strong test coverage across unit, integration, E2E, Docker, and Kubernetes workflows.
Requirements
- BS, MS, or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 10+ years of professional software engineering experience building production systems.
- Comfort working in a fast and ambiguous environment.
- Exceptional communication skills, including producing and reviewing architectural RFCs.
- Strong system design skills with an understanding of reliability, scalability, security, and performance tradeoffs.
- Experience with distributed systems, cloud-native services, containers, Kubernetes, and job orchestration.
- Excellent Python engineering skills, including API design, typing, testing, debugging, and performance analysis.
- Experience designing SDKs, libraries, plugins, CLIs, or other developer-facing interfaces.
- Ability to work independently, define technical scope, and drive work across team boundaries.
