About the Role
The Australasian Compliance function ensures that Australian and New Zealand entities fulfill local regulatory obligations and apply BlackRock compliance policies. This includes monitoring compliance with Australian Financial Services Licenses (AFSLs) and local regulatory obligations, as well as managing Regulatory Engagement & Development, Enterprise Compliance, Employee Compliance, Investment Advisory Compliance, and Marketing & Distribution.
Responsibilities
- Reviewing marketing materials
- Providing compliance input for client due diligence and requests for proposals
- Completing periodic attestations
- Preparing governance papers for committees and the BlackRock Australia Board
- Liaising with External Auditors for compliance plan audits
- Coordinating and participating in the annual assurance process for compliance plans
- Assisting with regulatory filings
- Monitoring regulatory reforms and developments in Australia and NZ
- Providing advice on local regulations and BlackRock policies (e.g., Marketing & Distribution, Conflicted Remuneration, Fund Disclosure, Design & Distribution Obligations)
- Supporting the Australasian Compliance team and business stakeholders with ad hoc projects
- Working with senior Compliance Team members on strategic initiatives
Requirements
- At least 3-5 years of regulatory compliance experience, ideally in investment management
- Basic understanding of the Australian regulatory environment for investment management, particularly registered managed investment schemes
- Basic understanding of investment products (preferably both ETFs and unlisted managed funds)
- Self-motivated individual with a commitment to excellence
- Acute attention to detail and highly organized
- Self-starter who enjoys working as part of a team
- Ability to collaborate and operate across the broader business
- Keen interest in further developing a career and expertise in Compliance
