Responsibilities
- Drive large, complex projects autonomously, from technical design to launch.
- Tackle complex architecture challenges, apply architectural standards, and implement them on new projects.
- Lead code reviews and documentation, and handle complex bug fixes, especially for high-risk issues.
- Serve as an example for conducting thorough and meaningful code reviews.
- Collaborate across engineering teams to address company-wide initiatives involving multiple projects.
- Transfer expertise from current programming languages to excel in Java development.
- Mentor junior team members.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in building and developing backend applications.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree, preferably in Computer Science.
- Senior-level experience with prominent languages such as Java, Python, Kotlin, Go, or Scala.
- Understanding of SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS industries with hands-on experience with public cloud offerings (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure).
- Fluency in at least one database technology (e.g., RDBMS like Oracle or Postgres, and/or NoSQL like DynamoDB or Cassandra).
- Experience in crafting and implementing well-tested, highly scalable, and performant microservices and/or other distributed systems.
- Practical knowledge of agile software development methodologies (e.g., XP, Scrum).
- Ability to evaluate trade-offs between correctness, robustness, performance, space, and time.
- Experience mentoring other engineers and influencing decision-makers across the organization.
- Consideration of customer impact in technical decision-making.
