About the Role
As an AI Architect at PwC, you will design end-to-end solutions for GenAI, RAG, and agentic AI, integrating data, cloud, security, and governance into scalable and cost-efficient architectures. You will translate business needs into robust architectures that combine data, cloud, security, governance, and AI technologies, ensuring they fit within the client's existing IT and data landscape.
Responsibilities
- Determine technical direction and ensure design coherence from conception to realization.
- Design end-to-end AI architectures, translating client requests into solution architectures, integration designs, and data flows compatible with existing IT and data landscapes.
- Make substantiated technology choices, defining how models, RAG, agents, APIs, data, and cloud platforms integrate, incorporating modularity for future model updates and assessing impact on feasibility, management, and TCO.
- Define production readiness criteria, establishing non-functional requirements for security, privacy, scalability, performance, observability, manageability, and Responsible AI.
- Provide direction during realization, collaborating with enterprise architects, security specialists, and engineers, evaluating technical choices, and adjusting designs based on practical feedback.
- Document key decisions in architecture decision records, integration designs, and security/data flow diagrams to ensure long-term solution manageability.
Requirements
- Experience with architecture in regulated environments (DNB, AFM, DORA, NIS2, or public procurement frameworks).
- Knowledge of the EU AI Act and practical model risk management.
- Experience with on-premise or hybrid deployments for sensitive environments.
- Cost modeling (FinOps) for AI, including estimating and optimizing token and inference costs.
- Experience setting up reference architectures or reusable accelerators.
- Relevant certifications such as Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Azure AI Engineer, Databricks, TOGAF.
- Experience as a solution architect, enterprise architect, senior engineer, or technical lead who looks beyond individual models and pilots.
- Extensive experience with data, software, cloud, or AI solutions, having guided multiple complex systems from design to production.
- Experience with solution architecture, enterprise architecture, or technical leadership, with the ability to maintain end-to-end coherence.
- Understanding of modern AI architectures and their production context, including LLMs, RAG, agentic workflows, APIs, data, and cloud platforms.
- Ability to make complex trade-offs understandable, weighing feasibility, security, costs, scalability, and maintainability, and clearly explaining choices to engineers and senior client stakeholders.
- Ability to provide direction through collaboration, listening to different perspectives, substantively assessing technical choices, and helping teams reach a supported and executable design.
- Strong communication skills in English; Dutch is required for some public sector assignments.
