About the Role
Volunteers of America Upstate New York's Children's Center provides educational programs focused on early childhood development and school readiness for children 6 weeks through 12 years old. The center serves over 200 children and families annually, offering support services like full-time behavior support and disability support for children with special needs. This role offers an opportunity to make a difference in a family's life and advance a career in early childhood education.
Responsibilities
- Assist in providing active, fully engaged supervision of the children at all times.
- Provide coverage in any classroom as needed to maintain ratios.
- Help to meet each child’s social, emotional, cognitive, and physical needs.
- Assist in maintaining classroom cleanliness and compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.
- Organize and implement developmentally appropriate lessons and activities under the direction of the classroom teacher, reinforcing educational goals and attending to individual needs.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of one year of classroom experience with the applicable age range preferred.
- OCFS process includes SEL, SCR, and DCJS fingerprinting.
- Knowledge of NYS OCFS regulations strongly desired.
