About the Role
Design and build the network for a heterogeneous inference fleet, supporting AI workloads. This role involves creating a new network architecture from scratch, ensuring scalability across multiple sites and managing diverse hardware interconnect requirements.
Responsibilities
- Design and own the data center network architecture, including leaf-spine fabric and high-bandwidth, low-latency paths.
- Lead network build-out for new sites, managing bill of materials, cabling plans, and acceptance testing.
- Standardize networking requirements across different accelerator vendors into a unified fleet design.
- Establish external connectivity, including IP transit, peering, and private customer connections.
- Implement tenant isolation and network security from the outset.
- Automate network configuration, provisioning, and validation for faster site deployment.
- Develop monitoring and telemetry for the network fabric and manage incident response.
- Manage relationships with network hardware vendors, carriers, colocation providers, and remote-hands teams.
- Own the physical and L2/L3 network, fabric performance, and site connectivity, collaborating with the platform team.
Requirements
- Hands-on experience designing and deploying data center networks.
- Deep knowledge of BGP, EVPN-VXLAN or equivalent, ECMP, and leaf-spine design.
- Experience building high-performance networks for AI/HPC clusters or latency-critical environments.
- Proficiency in network automation using Python, Ansible, or similar tools.
- Comfort working directly in data center environments, including cabling and hardware troubleshooting.
- Ability to manage hardware heterogeneity and ambiguity.
- Genuine interest in being an early hire at a small, growing company.
