About the Role
As a Tailor, you will conduct alterations, resizing, and restyling of all merchandise retailed in Neiman Marcus stores. You will assist fitters in achieving their goals with professional assistance regarding fit, alterability, and structural quality of apparel merchandise.
Responsibilities
- Alter constructed garments to meet Neiman Marcus quality standards, equal to or better than original construction.
- Perform alterations such as adjusting seams, taking in shoulder blades, reducing chest, and narrowing shoulders.
- Rotate and shorten sleeves.
- Shorten back, shorten collar, and square shoulders.
- Shorten coats, re-line coats, or remake inside or outside pockets.
- Operate and maintain all sewing equipment.
- Self-inspect completed work to ensure quality standards are met.
- Complete assigned alteration tasks.
- Interpret a variety of written and oral instructions.
- Complete tasks assigned by Manager, Supervisor, or Lead.
Requirements
- Experience in a tailoring operation or industrial sewing environment, with exposure to a variety of garment styles and types of fabrics, is preferred.
- Ability to read English and understand instructions from management.
- Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations (add, subtract, multiply, divide) in all units of measure.
