About the Role
Lead the team that designs and builds high-performance warehouse robots, taking complex electromechanical systems from concept through production. Build an elite engineering team focused on delivering reliable, innovative hardware and scaling production.
Responsibilities
- Provide strategic ownership with influence over R&D priorities, product roadmap, capital allocation, and growth planning.
- Scale current product to hundreds of units, optimizing design for reliability and manufacturing yield.
- Own end-to-end design for next-generation products, investing in R&D for customer improvements and leading scaled production.
- Establish processes, tooling, and documentation for predictable concept-to-volume production.
- Set engineering standards for quality, documentation, DFM/DFA, change control, and test coverage.
- Lead build vs. buy decisions for design, assembly, and component sourcing.
- Collaborate with procurement to evaluate and select components and vendors.
- Hire and develop a hardware team (mechanical, electrical, manufacturing).
- Partner with Software, Autonomy, Product, and Customer Operations teams.
Requirements
- Track record leading teams that delivered complete systems from concept to customer at thousands of units.
- Extensive experience developing robotics or comparable electromechanical systems from prototype to volume production.
- Demonstrated technical depth and leadership experience to make sound decisions and deliver on time.
- Hands-on experience managing an engineering process from requirements through scaled production (EVT/DVT/PVT builds).
- Experience with supplier selection and management, including sourcing components and evaluating vendor quality with an IQC process.
- Proven ability to hire, develop, and retain strong engineers.
