About the Role
BVNK is seeking a Lawyer with familiarity in financial services law and commercial contractual expertise to advise global teams on legal matters, shape new products, and lead negotiations for market-leading partnerships.
Responsibilities
- Partner closely with global teams to advise on financial services requirements, payments, outsourcing, data privacy, intellectual property, employment laws, financial crime, disputes, litigation, and corporate governance.
- Assist in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial agreements, including service contracts, outsourcing agreements, and SaaS agreements.
- Review marketing materials for accuracy, compliance, intellectual property protection, disclosures, risk mitigation, and alignment with company policies.
- Assess and advise on legal risks, propose effective legal solutions, and constructively challenge business decisions.
- Support global BAU activities and the legal operations function.
- Conduct legal research and stay updated on cryptocurrency, payments, and relevant laws and regulations.
- Advise and assist the business in preparing for anticipated legal and commercial risks.
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience as a qualified lawyer in an in-house legal team, top law firm, and/or a government agency.
- Familiarity with UK and EU financial services laws and regulations, including payments and ideally, blockchain and digital assets.
- Strong and extensive experience in negotiating and drafting agreements with customers, partners, and suppliers, including complex payment services-related agreements.
- Experience in intra-group matters such as intra-group outsourcing and advising on corporate law matters.
- Highly collaborative, inquisitive, and solutions-oriented.
- Prior experience advising on product development at fast-moving technology companies is ideal.
- Biased towards action and impact; willing to take on any task.
- Exceptional verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to build strong relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.
- Ability to simplify legal concepts and communicate them in easy-to-understand language.
