About the Role
RS&H is seeking a construction inspector in Austin, TX, to coordinate with contractors on heavy civil transportation construction sites. You will monitor progress, inspect materials for compliance with plans and specifications, review contract documents, and perform sampling and field testing. A daily log of activities will be created to report to the client.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate with contractors and sub-contractors on active heavy civil transportation construction sites.
- Monitor progress and inspect materials to ensure compliance with plans and specifications.
- Review contract documents to ensure compliance.
- Perform sampling and field testing of component materials and completed work.
- Create a daily log of activities to report details to the client.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Six months of experience.
- Ability to read construction plans.
- Must obtain any materials sampling and testing certifications as required by the project's scope of work.
- Valid driver's license with a good driving record.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis.
- Enjoy working with people and effectively communicate details.
- Adapt to different situations and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Physically active and comfortable with manual labor.
- Flexible with work location (company truck or project site trailer).
- Pay close attention to detail, especially numbers.
- Methodically record details in a daily log.
- Triple-check work.
- Willingness to learn and undergo training and certification classes.
