About the Role
The Civil CAD Designer will create construction drawings and documents for natural gas transmission and distribution pipelines, substation, underground, and overhead electrical projects. This role involves developing a basic understanding of project requirements and applying information from electronic drawing files within a team environment.
Responsibilities
- Utilize computer-aided drafting tools such as AutoCAD & AutoCAD Civil 3D, and MicroStation, along with technical handbooks, utility standards, tables, and calculators.
- Collaborate with design engineers and staff to resolve issues and produce construction documents.
- Prepare quantity take-offs in a professional and organized manner.
- Work under the guidance of senior designers and engineers.
- Ensure compliance with client and NV5 requirements and standards.
- Manage and maintain design records and files.
- Complete as-built drawings.
- Develop independent judgment and evaluation skills for assignments.
- Work semi-independently with minimal supervision.
- Engage in peer-learning by sharing knowledge with experienced designers and engineers.
Requirements
- 2+ years of experience in the utility, electrical, or civil industry.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Positive attitude and ability to work collaboratively.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and other relevant software.
- Fundamental training in computer-aided drafting software, including CAD Suite, Civil 3D, MicroStation, and Revit.
- Certificate of Training in technical drafting or equivalent work experience in an engineering environment (desirable).
- Experience drafting civil or utility drawings (desirable).
- 1-2 years of AutoCAD Civil 3D experience (desirable).
