About the Role
Westwood Professional Services is seeking a collaborative, detail-oriented Substation Designer (CAD Technician) to join a growing energy consulting firm. The Substation Designer will work with the Substation Engineering Team to prepare schematic and associated wiring diagrams for high voltage utility substations projects and renewable energy interconnections, collaborating with engineers and consultants.
Responsibilities
- Perform computer-aided design and drafting of all engineering products and deliverables.
- Collaborate with engineers and other drafters to correct discrepancies in drawings and designs.
- Create functional electrical drawings including Operations Diagrams, Single Line Drawings, Three Line Drawings, Current and Potential Schematics, Protection and Control Schematics, Communication Schematics, Alarm Schematics, and Associated Wiring Diagrams (Point to Point Translation).
- Import tables and calculations such as BOMs, and create notes for drawings.
- Self-check all work for accuracy before submission for review.
- Understand and meet project schedule and quality requirements.
- Complete drawings accurately and efficiently.
- Handle multiple projects concurrently and remain flexible to changes in work assignments.
- Actively assist in project delivery through correspondence, communication, meetings, and document preparation.
- Provide interdepartmental support as required.
Requirements
- Associate degree in Design & Drafting Technology or related field of study.
- Minimum of 3 years of CAD experience, AutoCAD experience preferred.
- Previous experience drafting schematic and associated wiring drawings for high voltage utility substations projects is required.
