About the Role
Internal Audit helps protect the assets, reputation and sustainability of the organisation. As the third line of defence, we independently assess the firm’s control environment, including its governance, risk management, capital and financial crime frameworks. Our role extends beyond identifying control weaknesses. We engage constructively with management to evaluate risk, advise on sustainable control solutions and assess whether remediation is implemented effectively.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to audits from planning and scoping through fieldwork, issue validation and reporting.
- Own discrete workstreams, taking increasing responsibility as your experience and credibility grow.
- Design and execute test programmes that assess the design and operating effectiveness of key controls.
- Document analysis, testing and conclusions clearly and precisely in line with audit methodology.
- Evaluate the significance of risks and issues and follow up constructively on remediation.
- Develop broad, transferable knowledge across the credit risk lifecycle, from origination through provisioning and capital.
- Stay informed about emerging credit trends, macroeconomic developments and evolving regulatory expectations.
- Understand how the Basel capital framework and accounting standards such as IFRS 9 and CECL operate in practice at a global institution.
- Analyse complex portfolio data to identify themes, outliers and potential control gaps.
- Form evidence-based conclusions and communicate them clearly to colleagues, business partners and, increasingly, senior management.
- Help assess whether commercial strategy is supported by effective and proportionate risk management.
- Support and coach analysts and new joiners as your experience develops.
- Share knowledge and leading practices across regional teams in London, New York, Birmingham and Dallas.
